Coimbatore: BJP candidate for the Coimbatore north assembly constituency, Vanathi Srinivasan, was admitted to a private hospital on Friday after experiencing swelling and pain in her leg.Vanathi has been actively campaigning over the past few days, covering various areas in her constituency on foot and interacting with residents. On Friday morning, she took part in a campaign in Ganapathy. However, when she was about to leave for her evening campaign, she noticed swelling accompanied by pain in her leg. Her scheduled campaign programmes for Friday evening were subsequently cancelled as she had to be hospitalised for treatment. Meanwhile, BJP leaders said further campaign plans would depend on medical advice. Party sources added that BJP’s former state president K Annamalai will instead campaign in the Coimbatore North constituency on Saturday. Notably, during the 2021 assembly election, AIADMK candidate Amman Arjunan had suffered a leg fracture while campaigning in the same constituency.
