Thiruvananthapuram: A doctor at Attingal taluk hospital has been accused of assaulting Attingal municipal chairperson around 12 noon on Wednesday in the hospital’s casualty department.The municipal chairperson, M Pradeep, had gone to the hospital to inquire about an alleged assault on a schoolgirl by a private tuition centre teacher. According to Attingal police, the student’s parents had brought the child to the hospital following the alleged assault.Pradeep reportedly approached the doctor seeking a wound certificate for the injured student, a requirement for filing a police complaint against the accused teacher.During their discussion, the situation turned into a heated argument. Pradeep alleged that the doctor grabbed him and pushed him during the argument. Videos of the confrontation, which have since surfaced on social media, show a tense verbal altercation between the two before others intervened to prevent the situation from escalating further.No injuries were reported in the incident. However, the episode has sparked a controversy and drawn public attention after the videos went viral. The exact circumstances that led to the confrontation remains unclear, and it is yet to be known whether either side has lodged a formal complaint with the police. Hospital authorities haven’t issued an official statement on the incident.Police are likely to probe into the alleged assault on the schoolgirl by the teacher separately.
