PURI: A major mishap was averted near Puri railway station in Odisha after a Talcher-Puri MEMU passenger train derailed on Friday.The incident took place around 500 metres from Puri station, near Platform No. 3, news agency ANI reported.The train was moving at a slow speed when the derailment occurred.As a result, there was no major damage and no injuries have been reported so far.Railway staff and personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) immediately reached the spot after the incident.The situation was brought under control, and work to remove the derailed train has begun, ANI reported.The derailment caused a minor disruption in train movement near the station.However, officials said no other trains were affected by the incident.Further details on what caused the derailment are awaited.(With agency inputs)
