Hyderabad: Telangana’s push to build a world-class sporting ecosystem received a boost on Wednesday with the Young India Physical Education and Sports University (YIPESU) signing an MoU with South Korea’s Korea National Sport University (KNSU), a partnership aimed at strengthening athlete training, sports science and high-performance sports education.Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday announced this. Sharing the development on X, the chief minister described the agreement as a significant step towards connecting Telangana’s sporting talent with global expertise.“This partnership now is more than an MoU. It is a bridge between Telangana’s sporting talent and global best practices in athlete training, sports science and high performance education,” he said.Revanth recalled that during his earlier visit to South Korea, he met a senior KNSU delegation led by its president Moon Won-Jae and held detailed discussions on forging a partnership with the proposed Young India Sports University.“KNSU-trained athletes contributed 16 of South Korea’s 32 medals at the Paris Olympics. We want to bring that culture of excellence to Telangana,” Revanth stated.Looking ahead to India’s Olympic ambitions, Revanth said Telangana was laying the groundwork to emerge as a major sporting hub.
