Lucknow: Two young men died by suicide in separate incidents in Lucknow on Monday, police said, with one found hanging at his home in Madiaon and the other allegedly taking the step after being reprimanded by his father in Saadatganj.In the first case, Mohammad Taufiq, 22, a Swiggy delivery executive and resident of Shrinagar Colony in Madiaon, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his room around 8 am. His family said he lived with his mother, father and sister near Bhagat Atta Chakki. His mother, Rubina, told police she had stepped out for some work and discovered him hanging after returning home. She alerted relatives and informed the police.Taufiq’s father, Mohammad Rafi alias Guddu, a carpenter, was reportedly out of town at the time and was informed by phone. Family members told investigators that Taufiq often had disagreements with his mother and sister over domestic issues.Madiaon inspector Shivanand Mishra said the body was sent for post-mortem examination and that further action would depend on the autopsy findings and the investigation.In the second incident, Sahil, 20, a resident of Bulaki Adda in Nanda Kheda under Sahadatganj, allegedly died by suicide following an argument at home. Relatives said he returned late on Sunday night after consuming alcohol and was reprimanded by his father, Raj Babu, who runs a grocery shop where Sahil also worked. Upset after the rebuke, Sahil went into his room and did not come out.When repeated knocks went unanswered, family members looked through a window and saw him hanging from the ceiling fan with a bedsheet, they said. The door was forced open and Sahil was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Family members said he was the only son among five sisters.Police said legal proceedings have been initiated in both cases and post-mortem reports are awaited.
