Amritsar: Commonwealth Games silver medallist Lovepreet Singh received a hero’s welcome upon his arrival at Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport on Tuesday.Lovepreet of nearby Bal Sachander village stepped out of the terminal to the beats of dhol, greeted by cheering supporters performing bhangra. Family, relatives and sports enthusiasts gathered in large numbers to celebrate his weightlifting success.Village sarpanch Jugraj Singh said Lovepreet, the son of a tailor, was garlanded and sweets distributed. He added that the airport premises witnessed a patriotic celebration as the crowd cheered the athlete for bringing honour to both Punjab and the nation on the international stage.
