After laying the foundation stone ceremony in the presence of iconic actor of national acclaim Mithun Chakraborty, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Ranjit Mullick, Rituparna Sengupta among others, Adhikari said, “There will be three sections in the Uttam Kumar Film Centre. Two 750-seater cinema halls will be in the first part. The second part will include a 1,000-seater auditorium and an open-air theatre for cultural events and cafeteria while the third section will consist of animation, visual effects, gaming, comics, external reality and post-production laboratories and studios for movies, which will help the media and entertainment industry,” Adhikari said.
The state government has allocated Rs 25 crore for the project initially. “Soil test is complete; site selection is already done. Our DPR process is ongoing. After the monsoon, the agency will start work here,” CM pointed out.
He instructed HIDCO Managing Director to review the planning design and sit down once with the centenary committee of the Mahanayak Uttam Kumar.
The Chief Minister vowed to create some great work in memory of Mahanayak which will be remembered even during “200-year celebration happens, when none of us will be here, CM said.
Adhikari yesterday said the government will leave politics out of the Bengali film industry while launching the birth centenary celebrations of late matinee icon Uttam Kumar.
