Berhampur: Parents of 37 girls, who cleared Class X from Sri Raghunath Swamy Girls High School, Balipadar, in Ganjam district, are worried about their children’s Plus II admissions as they are yet to get their school leaving certificates (SLC)s.Plus II admission started following the release of the first merit list on Thursday.Headmistress B M Subudhi left locking her office after she was suspended by the district education officer (DEO) on May 21 for alleged corruption. This has left students in the lurch regarding their school leaving certificates.Worried parents drew the attention of Ganjam district collector Keerthi Vassan V, who directed DEO A K Sahu to look into it.On Friday, the office lock was broken in the presence of the tehsildar, block education officer (BEO) and police. “During the search, they could not find the SLC register,” said Chinmay Mohapatra, BEO, Buguda.“We have informed the DEO about this, who has also written to the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) to issue a fresh SLC register,” the BEO said.“We have authorised a senior-most teacher from the school to bring the SLC register from the board office. The students will be issued their SLC in the next one or two days to facilitate their admission,” Mohapatra assured.“We hope the matter will be resolved in the next 1-2 days. The students will not face any problem in Plus II admission,” said additional district education officer (ADEO) Prabhati Mohapatra.“If any of the students face problem in admission due to the SLC issue, we will facilitate the admission,” the ADEO assured.
