Hyderabad: Telangana Congress’ disciplinary action committee led by its chairperson Mallu Ravi on Saturday held extensive discussions on three major issues pertaining to taking action against endowments minister Konda Surekha and her daughter K Sushmitha, and planning board vice chairperson G Chinna Reddy and MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy. The committee, which met at Gandhi Bhavan, reviewed the video clippings of Konda Sushmitha and the comments made by her against chief minister A Revanth Reddy, along with explanations given by Konda Surekha and G Chinna Reddy.“The committee will examine all complaints received and take an appropriate call. No decision has been taken so far on the explanation submitted by Konda Surekha,” Mallu Ravi told media persons after the meeting.
Earlier, TPCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud said Sushmitha crossed the disciplinary line and that such comments will not be tolerated by the party. SC welfare minister Adluri Lakshman demanded that Konda Surekha tender an unconditional apology as her daughter could have not spoken about it without her mother’s knowledge.“Susmitha had made inappropriate comments about CM Revanth. Some MLAs had indicated that they would also submit complaints against her to the disciplinary committee regarding the issue,” Mallu Ravi said.On her part, Konda Surekha wrote to the committee, urging it to find out who was behind the 19 MLCs and MLAs who were maligning her image by holding media conferences against her.The disciplinary committee chairperson added that as a cabinet minister, Konda Surekha should have at least condemned the remarks made by her daughter. But she chose to present her case before the party leadership and instead commented that why she was being asked for an explanation for her daughter’s comments, citing principles of natural justice. The committee also reviewed videos of remarks made by G Chinna Reddy following a complaint lodged against him by Wanaparthy MLA T Megha Reddy. Mallu Ravi said the committee had examined Chinna Reddy’s explanation and would summon Megha Reddy again to seek further clarification before arriving at a decision. In his explanation to the committee, Chinna Reddy said that since his membership in Indira Congress from 1978 onwards to till date, he had never spoken against the Congress party or its leaders. “I regard Gandhi Bhavan and Indira Bhavan, Congress party offices in Telangana and New Delhi as temples and Gandhi family members and Mallikarjun Kharge are like Gods to me. What I spoke was only venting out the frustration of party workers in the Wanaparthy assembly constituency. I will never speak against the party high command. Please withdraw the show-cause notice that was issued on me,” he said.On the dispute involving Srinivas Reddy and Sanjeeva Reddy during the Political Affairs Committee meeting in Adilabad, Mallu Ravi said show-cause notices had already been issued. He said the committee had also obtained an explanation from in charge minister Jupally Krishna Rao, who had spoken on the issue. “A decision in this case will also be taken soon,” he said.Referring to Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy’s indirect comments against the party and the CM, Mallu Ravi said no formal complaint had been received against him so far by the committee. However, the committee was examining whether it should initiate suo motu action and would follow due procedure in the matter.“The Congress party will deal with disciplinary matters by following the established procedure. Our main intention is to keep the flock together by ensuring party discipline is maintained. We have already suspended Congress senior leader from LB Nagar Jakkidi Prabhakar Reddy for anti-party comments and activities. Decisions will be taken in due course in other cases also,” Mallu Ravi said. The committee has also sought explanations regarding disputes that took place in Siddipet and Gajwel, he added.
