Panaji: The price of fresh lime has risen sharply with each lime now selling for around Rs 10 as demand for the citrus fruit increases with the onset summer.Vendors said that the price rise was gradual over the past few months but accelerated in recent weeks as temperatures climbed and demand for refreshing beverages increased.Until Dec 2025, limes were sold for around Rs 4 to 5 per piece. The price later rose to about Rs 7 per piece in the following weeks before climbing further to the current rate of around Rs 10 per piece.“The demand for lime increases every summer as people use it for juices and other drinks to beat the heat,” Attar Bepari, a vendor, said.Market sellers also pointed out that the prices rose even before peak summer season, suggesting that demand was already strong. Vendors say rates are likely to ease only on monsoon arrival.
