Kanpur: Citizens continued to reel under sultry weather conditions on Thursday as the maximum temperature stood at 34.4°C, 0.2°C higher than Wednesday’s 34.2°C. The minimum temperature remained unchanged at 26.2°C.Bright sunshine prevailed through the morning and afternoon, intensifying the discomfort caused by high humidity. Around 3pm, clouds gathered over the city. The weather turned relatively pleasant for a brief period after the skies turned cloudy, though sultry conditions continued to prevail.The Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology weather observatory recorded maximum relative humidity at 74%. South-easterly winds blew at around 7.1 kmph but provided little relief from the heat, particularly before 3pm.CSA weather expert SN Sunil Pandey said the movement of clouds over the next five days could lead to localised thunderstorms, strong winds and light rain or drizzle in parts of the city. He added that humidity was likely to increase whenever the sun came out, keeping the weather uncomfortable despite the possibility of intermittent cloud cover and rainfall.Meanwhile, the city’s air quality index remained between 96 and 132, ranging from moderate to unhealthy for sensitive groups.Children, elderly people and those suffering from asthma or heart conditions have been advised to limit prolonged outdoor exertion when air quality deteriorates.
