AMBALA: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Monday announced a seven-member core committee for the party’s Haryana unit.In a statement, senior SAD leader and party’s Haryana affairs in-charge Balwinder Singh Bhundar said the committee was announced after consultations with Haryana unit president Harkesh Singh Mohri.The seven members are Baldev Singh Qaimpur, Raghujit Singh Virk, Ravinder Singh Rana, Sukhsagar Singh, Harbhajan Singh Masana, Harpal Singh Ahrawan and Prithipal Singh Jhabbar.Bhundar said more members would be inducted into the core committee in the next phase. He said all the members would work together to strengthen the party at the grassroots level and work for the progress, prosperity and welfare of the people of Haryana.He claimed that the SAD was receiving strong support from various sections of society in Haryana, with people voluntarily joining the party.Bhundar said the Haryana unit would hold a meeting on September 19, during which the party’s future strategy would be chalked out and a 101-member working committee would be announced. The party organisation would subsequently be constituted at the district and circle levels.He said the SAD would welcome people from all religions and communities, rising above religious and caste considerations, as the Sikh Gurus preached the message of universal brotherhood. “Everyone is equal in the Akali Dal,” he said.Bhundar said the party would work day and night to rebuild the SAD in Haryana and restore its organisational strength to the level it had achieved in the past.
