Chandigarh: A 21-year-old laundry worker was found hanging from a tree near the PGI laundry area on Friday morning. Passersby spotted the body and alerted the PGI police post, who moved the deceased to the GMSH-16 mortuary for an autopsy.The deceased, Rajat, originally from Uttar Pradesh, lived in Khudda Lahora with his wife and child, while his parents resided in Mohali. Preliminary inquiries suggest Rajat was under severe emotional distress due to ongoing family financial disputes.Family members stated that Rajat had visited his parents on Thursday night and took a scarf when he departed, which police believe was used as a makeshift noose. No suicide note was recovered at the scene. The Sector 11 police have initiated inquest proceedings and are investigating all angles pending the final post-mortem report.
