Jaipur: A protest over lack of cold drinking water at Rajasthan University’s Central Library intensified Tuesday when student leader Shubham Rewar shifted a refrigerator from a head of department’s office to a common area of the library.Rewar said the step was taken after repeated requests to the university administration failed to yield any action. “Students are being forced to drink warm water in this scorching heat. We took this measure because repeated representations are ignored and students are only given assurances,” he said.He claimed that a large number of students visit the Central Library daily for studies, but proper drinking water facilities are unavailable.Warning of further agitation, Rewar said students would continue raising issues related to basic amenities. He demanded immediate arrangements for cold drinking water and air coolers at the library, adding that a larger protest would be launched if the administration failed to address the concerns.
