Bathinda: Two activists of Punjab Students Union (PSU) were arrested as a preventive measure to maintain peace, and later discharged after presenting them before the SDM, all in a day at Jaito town of Faridkot on Friday. PSU activists Sukhbir Singh and Jasneet Singh were accused of instigating students of University College Jaito to observe a strike over issues pertaining to fee structure. The police stated that college authorities had filed a complaint stating that two outsiders were disturbing the peaceful atmosphere of the college.Sukhbir Singh and Jasneet Singh, though not studying in University College Jaito, were active in the college over various issues, including opposing the fee structure. They entered the college on Friday morning and were arrested, alleging they were creating nuisance by getting some students into protests.PSU leaders said that they are working for redressal of the issues of the students and will continue to do it, and if police stopped them by making arrests, they will stage protests.
