Jamshedpur: A preliminary investigation into Thursday’s explosion at Gloria Engineering in Adityapur industrial area, Seraikela-Kharsawan, that killed machine operator Murli Patro, 30, and injured five workers, has found that a baking oven exploded while in operation.“The findings of the detailed inquiry will help to establish the exact cause of the explosion. The statements of the injured workers will also be recorded. These will also help to determine if the company management violated any provisions of the Factories Act and prescribed safety norms or the incident was purely an accident,” said chief inspector of department of factories, Manish Kumar.“Strict penal action would follow against the factory management if violations of factory safety regulations are established. An FIR will be lodged, if required,” he added.Patro succumbed to severe burn injuries, while the five injured workers are undergoing treatment. His family has reportedly agreed for Rs 10.60 lakh compensation besides other benefits following multiple rounds of negotiations.Seraikela SDPO Anubhav Bhardwaj said, “No case has been registered yet as the official probe continues.”The company was yet to issue any statement.
