Noida: An 18-year-old waiter was injured during celebratory firing at an engagement ceremony in Greater Noida on Wednesday. According to police, the ceremony was being held at the residence of Ankit Bhati in Bisrakh village. Pushpendra, a resident of Dev Vihar Colony in Ghaziabad, was working as a waiter at the event when shots were allegedly fired in celebration. He was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital, where doctors described his condition as stable and said he was out of danger.Following the incident, Bisrakh police registered a case and launched a search for Bhati. Further investigation is underway to establish who fired the weapon and how it was procured.The incident adds to a growing list of injuries and deaths linked to celebratory firing in the region. In Nov 2025, two people were arrested after a 12-year-old boy was injured by a stray bullet during a wedding procession in the Jarcha area. In Feb last year, a two-year-old boy was killed during celebratory firing in Aghapur village. The child was sitting on his father’s lap on a third-floor balcony when a bullet fired during a wedding procession struck him in the head.
