Bhubaneswar: The state govt on Monday directed all district collectors to expedite Aadhaar updation of beneficiaries receiving pension under National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP), with 81,226 beneficiaries yet to be migrated to the Aadhaar-based payments system. In a letter to all collectors and district magistrates, the social security and empowerment of persons with disabilities (SSEPD) department said these beneficiaries continue to receive pension through the account-based payment mode and are yet to be shifted to Aadhaar-based payments. The department asked district administrations to immediately identify the remaining beneficiaries and facilitate linking or updating of their Aadhaar with their bank accounts to ensure uninterrupted disbursement of social security pensions under the NSAP.Officials said Aadhaar seeding of bank accounts and completion of the e-KYC process should be prioritised before beneficiaries are migrated to the new payment system. The exercise will be carried out through Aadhaar operators at the block level. Mayurbhanj has the highest number of over 10,000 pending accounts, officials said.District administrations have also been asked to seek assistance from Aadhaar coordinators, who supervise three blocks each, in case of technical or operational issues during the updation process. The latest directive comes a week after the department asked districts to update the Aadhaar details of 3.35 lakh NSAP beneficiaries receiving pension through account-based payments without Aadhaar linked to their bank accounts.According to govt norms, pensions under the scheme would now be disbursed exclusively through the Aadhaar-based payments system on the SNA-SPARSH platform, the Centre’s cash management system for Centre-sponsored schemes.
