Kolkata: Nabanna will pay DA (dearness allowance) arrears to state employees in multiple phases, according to a finance department notification. The arrears, covering the period from April 2008 to Dec 2019, were announced by chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday.In the first phase, arrears for Jan 2016 to Dec 2019 will be calculated based on the All-India Consumer Price Index. This will be disbursed in two instalments — the first in March 2026 and the second in Sept 2026.The payout remains subject to the final determination of total dues by the monitoring committee headed by Justice Indu Malhotra. Modalities for the April 2008 to Dec 2015 period will be notified later. While arrears for Groups A, B, and C will be credited to their GPF accounts, Group D employees will receive cash via bank transfers, officials added.
