Panaji: The state recorded normal southwest monsoon conditions on Sunday, with light to moderate rainfall reported at most places. However, the state has recorded a 31% rainfall deficit since the monsoon began on June 1, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).Goa received an area-weighted average of 1,678.6mm of rainfall between June 1 and Aug 16, against the normal 2,427.9mm, a deficit of 30.9%.On Sunday, the state received an average of 30.1mm of rainfall against the normal 20.8mm, representing a 44.7% surplus.At the Panaji observatory, the maximum temperature was 32°C, 2.4°C above normal, while the minimum was 24.4°C, 0.1°C above normal. Mormugao recorded a maximum of 31.6°C, 2.3°C above normal, and a minimum of 25.4°C, 1.2°C above normal.The IMD has forecast moderate rainfall across Goa until Aug 22, with no weather warnings in place.
