Amritsar: MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, the Aam Aadmi Party‘s state chief spokesperson, on Thursday said the state govt had initiated steps to recover Rs 1.44 lakh crore from Rajasthan as compensation for water supplied since 1960.Addressing a gathering here on Thursday, Dhaliwal said that under an agreement in the 1920s between the Bikaner princely state, undivided Punjab and British govt, Rajasthan paid Punjab on a per-acre basis for water supplied through the Ferozepur feeder canal until 1960.He alleged that the compensation was discontinued due to the negligence of successive Punjab govts from 1960 to March 2022. “Now, the Punjab govt has initiated action to recover the amount.
