The move aims to curb illegal property transfers and prevent buyers from being cheated through the sale of flats in unauthorised buildings.“Buildings constructed without the necessary permissions, those not complying with development plan regulations and those without the required approvals will face restrictions on registration,” Bawankule said. The guardian minister of Nagpur and Amravati districts clarified that buildings whose deficiencies could be rectified and which are eligible for regularisation would be dealt with under the prescribed procedure. However, constructions that could not be legally regularised would face action in accordance with the law.“The govt would distinguish between constructions that could be regularised after fulfilling the applicable requirements and those that could not receive legal approval,” he said.Complaints about buildings being constructed without mandatory permissions and Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) registration had been raised in the state legislature. Such complaints had emerged from Nagpur, Panvel, Thane, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Haveli and Pune, among other cities.Govt has also received indications of growing agent involvement in unauthorised construction and illegal property transfer transactions.
