Thiruvananthapuram: State govt introduces a green protocol for Attukal Pongala festival on March 3. A special enforcement squad was formed under joint initiative of local self-govt department and District Suchitwa Mission to eliminate the use of prohibited single-use items, a statement said. Inspections were also intensified across the district.To control widespread use of flex boards, special inspection teams will conduct rigorous checks at flex printing establishments in the district. The brochure for the mega campaign, ‘Devotion with Cleanliness First’, prepared by District Suchitwa Mission, was unveiled by district collector Anu Kumari. Awareness classes for those planning to distribute food during the festival and run temporary stalls were conducted. The campaign will be organised at various levels, focusing on residence associations, schools and places of worship. Additionally, a vehicle equipped with LED displays will travel through urban areas to spread the message of cleanliness during Pongala.
