Gandhinagar: The state govt has facilitated the return of a professor, who had been stranded in Ebola-affected Democratic Republic of Congo for a month.Amin Sana, an assistant professor with R R Lalan College in Bhuj, had been stranded due to restrictions imposed along the Rwanda-Congo border over the Ebola virus concerns. An official statement said Sana sought assistance from the state govt to facilitate his return.“Through the coordinated efforts of the Gujarat State Non-Resident Gujarati Foundation, the ministry of external affairs, and Indian diplomatic missions, we were able to provide timely support and assistance to a citizen caught in a difficult international situation,” an official statement quoting DyCM Harsh Sanghavi said.Sama had arrived in Rwanda through Kigali International Airport on May 15. He then legally entered Goma in the DRC to meet a childhood friend and had planned to travel onward to Tanzania. However, just two days later, Rwanda shut its border with the DRC due to fears of an Ebola outbreak, preventing him from returning to Kigali.
