Vadodara: A 19-year-old college student died after a state transport (ST) bus hit the two-wheeler she was riding pillion on, on the Fatehgunj flyover around 3.30pm on Tuesday.According to police, Trupti Mali was riding pillion while her friend Shraddha Kadam was driving the two-wheeler. When the duo was on the flyover, a speeding ST bus hit their two-wheeler. Both Mali and Kadam fell on the road while the bus driver sped away.A doctor, who was passing by, stopped her car and rushed Mali to hospital. However, Mali, a student at MS University, died during treatment. Police said that they have launched a search for the ST bus with the help of CCTVs installed in the area.The flyover has been the site seen several accidents in the last few weeks, but no action has been taken by the authorities to stem such incidents. “Traffic police visited the spot along with a team of civic officials. On certain stretches on the flyover, an extra layer of bitumen is causing vehicles to slip,” a traffic police official said.Traffic police say that they have taken several measures to improve road safety in various areas including organising awareness programmes.
