Madhubani: A team of the 48th Battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) seized 315kg of urea fertiliser, a motorcycle and a bicycle, and apprehended three Nepalese nationals near the India-Nepal border in Madhubani district on Sunday.The operation was carried out by the Digiyatol Border Outpost as part of a drive against cross-border smuggling and unauthorised movement along the international border.According to the SSB, intelligence inputs received on Sunday morning indicated that a consignment of banned goods was likely to be transported from India into Nepal. Acting on the tip-off, a special patrol team was deployed near Border Pillar No. 286/24 close to Bela village.Around 7.30am, SSB personnel spotted a group approaching the border carrying goods. On seeing the security forces, the suspects allegedly tried to flee after abandoning the consignment. The patrol team intercepted and detained all three.A search led to the recovery of seven bags of urea fertiliser weighing 45kg each, a motorcycle and a bicycle.The detained men were identified as Vivek Kumar Yadav (17), Pankaj Kumar Yadav (19) and Harishankar Yadav (20), all residents of Dhanusha district in Nepal. During questioning, they told officials that the fertiliser had been purchased from a shop in the Pipraun area for use in agricultural fields in Nepal.The seized goods and the three detainees were handed over to the Land Customs Station (LCS), Pipraun, under Harlakhi police station for further legal action.
