Ahmedabad: The 54th edition of Shodh Yatra, carried out by city-based SRISTI, concluded recently. The officials of the organisation said that the experience added several new crops, innovations and indigenous practices to their repository. The event was led by Prof Anil Gupta, convenor of SRISTI.The Shodh Yatra started from Aurapath in Dumri to Bendor in Chainpur in Jharkhand and was conducted between Feb 6 and 12. It encompassed about 125km and covered 27 villages, as 40-odd yatris, including scientists, journalists, students, farmers, academicians and policymakers, were part of it.Chetan Patel, secretary of SRISTI, said that the highlight of the event remained the discovery of about 53 different species of edible plants, their indigenous crops and food items, and documentation of their way of solving their local problems. “The centenarians and innovators were also felicitated during the yatra. Even today, society extends a welcome to those who traverse rural areas on foot,” he said.
