PUNE: Student organisations at Savitribai Phule Pune University demanded the university bear the additional Rs10 cost in meal rate, instead of the students.The university, through a Sept 17 circular, increased meal rates by Rs10 per thali across all messes.Vidyapeeth Vidyarthi Sangharsh Kruti Samiti argued students, many of whom are yet to receive scholarships, should not bear the additional burden. “We will conduct a student survey and submit its findings,” said Abhishek Shelkar of VVSK.ABVP said if the new rates are not rolled back before Oct 1, it will launch a protest. tnn
