Vadodara: A food delivery worker died in a road accident after he was run over by an SUV on Sun Pharma Road in the city in the early hours of Saturday. The SUV was allegedly driven in a reckless manner by a 19-year-old woman. The accident occurred around 1.30am when Abhishek More, 27, was passing near the Bhim Talav junction on Sun Pharma Road. A speeding Mahindra Thar SUV hit More’s motorcycle, killing him on the spot. It is believed More died of a severe head injury. A police patrol reached the accident site and the woman driving the vehicle and the two young women accompanying her were taken to Atladara police station. The driver was identified as Rishika Sadanani, 19, a resident of the Racecourse area in the city. Abhishek’s father, Vasudev More, registered an offence against Sadanani at Atladara police station. He alleged that the car was being driven fast and negligently. Sources said that the deceased used to work for a courier company and took food delivery orders through an aggregator. Deputy commissioner of police Manjita Vanzara told mediapersons that had been Sadanani. She added that blood samples of all three women in the car were taken to check if they were intoxicated when the accident occurred. CCTV footage of the accident also emerged. Vanzara said that this and other evidence will be used by experts to work out the speed of the car. There were tense moments when the accused was taken to the accident site. Family members of the deceased also went there and vented ire at the accused and at the police. Sadanani and the other two women had gone to a wedding at a resort in Dumad on the highway. They were going to Sun Pharma Road as one of them lived there and had to be dropped off.
