Times News NetworkKanpur: A speeding dumper rammed into a Rapido scooty in the Kalyanpur police station area of the city on Wednesday killing the pillion rider and seriously injuring the rider. The dumper driver tried to flee with the vehicle.According to police the collision occurred near DPS School in Bithoor. A crowd gathered after the accident. On receiving information, police reached the spot, took the body into custody and sent it for postmortem examination, and admitted the injured man to hospital for treatment.Satyendra Tiwari, a resident of Bithoor said that the deceased Faizan, 30, a resident of Barra, was employed in the medical equipment selling firm. On Wednesday morning, he left from Barra for Bithoor at about 7 in the morning after booking a Rapido. The Rapido scooty was being driven by Pranjul Mishra.As soon as the two reached near DPS School in Bithoor, a speeding dumper hit their scooty hard and both youths were thrown far onto the road. After the accident, the dumper driver tried to flee by speeding up the vehicle. During this, Faizan came under the dumper’s wheel and died on the spot. Pranjul Mishra was seriously injured.After the incident, local people immediately informed the police on 112.Within a short time, Kalyanpur police reached the spot. Police took Faizan’s body into custody and sent it for postmortem. Injured Pranjul was first taken to a nearby private hospital, where after primary treatment, doctors referred him to Hallet Hospital when his condition became critical.Faizan is survived by his elder brother Noor Alam. Faizan’s marriage had already been fixed and was scheduled to take place in December this year.In-charge Kalyanpur police station Keshav Kumar Tiwari said the search for the absconding dumper driver had been intensified after the accident. Footage from CCTV cameras installed at and around the scene is being examined.
