Shimla: Bilaspur deputy commissioner Rahul Kumar on Saturday flagged off a group of specially-abled children and senior citizens for a two-day exposure visit to Amritsar under the inter-generational coordination programme.The initiative, organised by the district administration in collaboration with the department of social justice and empowerment, included participants from ‘Apna Ghar’ old age home and ‘Naya Savera’ institute for specially-abled children. The group comprised 14 senior citizens, 15 specially-abled children, and accompanying staff members. During the visit, they will witness the Beating Retreat ceremony at Wagah Border and tour the Golden Temple (Harmandar Sahib) and Jallianwala Bagh. The DC emphasised that specially-abled children and senior citizens are respected and vital members of society who deserve equal opportunities and dignity.
