Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh is set to integrate space science extensively into governance and development, using satellite-based technology for agriculture, urban planning, disaster management, infrastructure development and water resource management. The initiative is being positioned as a key pillar in achieving the vision of “Viksit Uttar Pradesh-2047”.The two-day 11th Space Applications Adoption Workshop began in Lucknow on Thursday. It has been jointly organised by the Remote Sensing Applications Center, Uttar Pradesh (RSAC-UP), IN-SPACe under the Department of Space, GoI, and the Urban Development Department. The workshop was inaugurated by science and technology minister Anil Kumar and chief secretary SP Goyal at the Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Uttar Pradesh Academy of Administration and Management.Kumar urged IN-SPACe experts and industry partners to take space technology beyond laboratories and make it accessible to villages and farmers. .Goyal advocated geo-tagging all plots in the state to provide accurate boundary information to farmers and landowners and help resolve land disputes. He also proposed mapping all houses through space applications to strengthen the building tax system and improve urban local bodies’ revenues.IN-SPACe Director Air Vice Marshal DB Khot highlighted India’s space programme, grassroots development and pre-disaster warning systems, while principal secretary Pandhari Yadav outlined RSAC-UP’s work in agriculture, forests, water resources, urban planning and disaster management.
