Ahmedabad: Gujarat has received 72.36% of its average annual rainfall so far this monsoon, with a sharp regional disparity. While South Gujarat has almost reached its full annual average, Kutch has received less than a third of its normal rainfall.The latest figures also show that rainfall remains uneven across individual districts. Valsad has already received 111% of its annual average, followed by Navsari at 117.77% and Surat at 103.15%. At the other end, Devbhumi Dwarka has received only 6.32% of its annual average, while Porbandar is at 17.61% and Jamnagar at 28.63%.As of August 13, the state had received 657.71mm of rain, against its long-term annual average of 909mm.Meanwhile, south Gujarat continued to receive the bulk of the rain on Thursday, with Khergam in Navsari recording the highest 69mm between 6am and 4pm. Valsad city received 61mm, while Nana Pondha recorded 55mm. Other parts of the region also received significant showers.South Gujarat has fared the best, receiving 1,523.35mm against its average of 1,542mm — 98.79% of its annual average. In contrast, Kutch has received just 145.60mm, or 29.13% of its average annual rainfall of 500mm.North Gujarat has received 54.81% of its average rainfall, while Saurashtra is at 54.93%. East-Central Gujarat has performed relatively better at 71.17%.
