Srinagar, July 13: Police in Sopore have attached immovable properties worth over Rs 1.23 crore belonging to an absconding alleged drug peddler under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act as part of the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan.

The attached assets include a double-storey residential house with a boundary wall and 1 kanal 10 marlas of land under Survey No. 365 Min, with a combined estimated value exceeding ₹1.23 crore.

Police identified the accused as Mohammad Ashraf Mir alias Ashu, son of Late Farooq Ahmad Mir, a resident of Jamia Qadeem, Sopore, presently residing at Krankshivan Colony, Nageen Bagh-B, Sopore.

According to police, the attachment was carried out in connection with FIR No. 23/2026 registered at Police Station Sopore. A financial investigation found that the properties were allegedly acquired through proceeds from illicit narcotics trafficking. The attachment proceedings were executed in the presence of independent witnesses in accordance with Section 68F of the NDPS Act.

Police said the accused is absconding in the case, and a Hue and Cry Notice and Look Out Notice have already been issued against him. He is also involved in multiple NDPS cases, indicating his continued alleged involvement in drug trafficking.

Officials said the action is aimed at dismantling the financial network supporting the narcotics trade by depriving offenders of assets allegedly acquired through proceeds of crime.

Reiterating its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and substance abuse, police said stringent legal and financial action will continue against those involved in the narcotics trade.
