Rajkot: Maliya Miyana police arrested a 36-year-old man for allegedly killing his father in Mota Bhela village of the Maliya Miyana taluka of Morbi district, following a domestic dispute over employment.According to the FIR lodged by his younger son, Bharat Somani (28), the altercation occurred on the evening of April 7, when the victim, Jivan Somani (85), scolded his elder son, Pravin Somani for loitering instead of working or engaging in business. Enraged, Pravin allegedly grabbed an axe and struck his father on the leg, inflicting a deep, severe wound near the ankle.The injured Jivan was initially taken to Maliya Govt Hospital and later referred to Morbi Govt Hospital. He was then transferred to Rajkot for advanced treatment but succumbed to his injuries en route. His body was brought back to Morbi Govt Hospital for a postmortem.Police seized the murder weapon, but what shocked investigators was that Pravin was found sleeping unperturbed at home after allegedly committing the crime.Investigation officer K K Darbar said, “We launched a search, which led to the arrest of the accused within hours.” The deceased is survived by four sons and four daughters.Police registered a case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (murder) and Section 135 of the Gujarat Police Act.
