Ahmedabad: A fugitive accused in a Rs 27 lakh ‘digital arrest’ case has been caught after allegedly evading police for two years. The 45-year-old was arrested near Shivranjani Crossroads in Satellite after Ahmedabad crime branch officers received specific information about his whereabouts.Police said the 45-year-old, who lived in a society behind Vasna bus stand, was wanted in a 2024 case registered by the Solapur cybercrime police under provisions of BNS and the Information Technology Act. The city police have begun the process of handing him over to cops from Solapur, Maharashtra.Police said the 45-year-old also faces gambling, prohibition, and cheating cases in Gujarat. Vasna police and Gujarat University police in Ahmedabad, as well as Gandhigram police in Rajkot, registered these cases between 2022 and 2025.Police plan to produce the 45-year-old before a court to seek transit remand before taking him to Maharashtra for questioning in the digital arrest fraud case.
