Chennai: Edwin George, an employee of a software company has been arrested for cultivating a ganja plant at his residence at VOC Nagar. The ganja plant was seized, and police launched an inquiry to determine whether the accused had links to narcotics suppliers. Following a tip-off that Edwin was growing a ganja plant on the balcony of his second-floor apartment, police searched the house and found a full grown ganja plant on the balcony. Edwin told police that he was growing the plant for religious purposes and that he performed daily rituals to it. Police also recovered a Home Guard uniform from the house. On inquiry, Edwin George stated that he was associated with the Tamil Nadu Home Guard unit.
