Gandhinagar: To strengthen social and educational infrastructure in Gujarat, minister Pradyuman Vaja virtually inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth over Rs 21 crore from Swarnim Sankul-1 in Gandhinagar on Wednesday.Among the key projects inaugurated were newly constructed govt boys’ hostels aimed at supporting students from underprivileged communities. A hostel built for Rs 5.99 crore in Khambhaliya of Devbhumi Dwarka district under the developing castes welfare department, and another hostel worth Rs 7.15 crore in Khambhat of Anand district under the scheduled caste welfare department, were dedicated to the public.Additionally, a modern rehabilitation home for women who have recovered from mental illness was inaugurated at Dabhoda in Gandhinagar district. Built at a cost of Rs 4.50 crore under the social security division, the facility aims to ensure dignified re-integration of such women into society.The minister also performed the e-foundation stone-laying ceremony for a new govt boys’ hostel to be constructed in Botad district at an estimated cost of Rs 3.95 crore.Addressing the occasion, Vaja stated that these hostels will provide a conducive and quality educational environment for students belonging to backward and marginalised sections. He emphasised that the rehabilitation centre at Dabhoda is a sensitive and important initiative towards social inclusion.He further informed that under the self-employment loan scheme of the Gujarat Unreserved Educational and Economic Development Corporation, 614 beneficiaries were selected through a transparent computerised draw from Banaskantha, Patan and Vav-Tharad regions, ensuring support reaches deserving applicants.
