Ahmedabad: A 36-year-old man travelling to Pune to attend to his son, who was in the ICU, was rescued by Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel after he got trapped between Platform No. 5 and a moving train while trying to board a train to Mumbai. The incident occurred around 10.30pm as the Pune-Duronto train was departing from the platform at Kalupur railway station. Officials said the passenger, whose identity was not disclosed, tried to climb into a general coach after another commuter already boarded the moving train. As the train picked up speed, he lost balance and slipped into the gap between the platform edge and the moving train. CCTV footage from the station captured the moment he fell and got trapped in the narrow space, with the train continuing to move forward. Within seconds, RPF personnel stationed nearby noticed the fall and sprinted towards him. Constables Puranmal Samota and Chhotulal, part of the team deployed on the platform, pulled the man away from the gap and brought him to safety, preventing what could have been a fatal accident. Officials said the rescue was carried out swiftly and without further injury to the passenger. During preliminary questioning, the man told authorities he was in a hurry because his son was undergoing treatment in the ICU at a Pune hospital. He stated that this was the train by which he could reach Pune in the morning.
