GURGAON: Nearly eight months after MCG began redeveloping three parks in Sushant Lok 2 and 3, residents have raised concerns over the slow progress of work and poor workmanship, alleging inadequate monitoring by the civic body.The project covers two parks in B and C blocks of Sushant Lok 3 and one park in D block of Sushant Lok 2 at a cost of Rs 80 lakh. Residents said only 50% of the work in Sushant Lok 3 and 40% in Sushant Lok 2 have been completed so far.Pawan Yadav, president of the Sushant Lok 2 and 3 RWA, said the work began towards the end of last year but has progressed in fits and starts. “Some of the completed work has already started deteriorating,” he said.Residents flagged loose and misaligned gym equipment, broken plastic covers, damaged stones on the external walls and tiles coming off walls and tracks. The gates have not been installed properly, the planting is incomplete, and the boundary walls remain unfinished, they said.Residents also flagged under-maintenance and encroachment around parks in Sushant Lok 3. Four years after the civic body took over the area, only two of its nearly 40 parks are currently being developed, they said.“The RWA is not an enforcement agency. We can maintain the parks but cannot remove encroachments. MCG needs to support us in clearing such encroachments,” Sudakshina Laha, general secretary of the RWA, said.Meanwhile, the executive engineer of MCG (horticulture) Sandeep Kumar said, “We will inspect the work and ascertain whether there are any shortcomings. If any work is found to be substandard or incomplete, it will be rectified. If the contractor is found responsible for any deficiency or poor-quality work, appropriate action will be taken.”
