Chandrapur: A sloth bear was killed after being run over by a train on the Ballarshah-Gondia railway line.The incident took place near Ashtabhuja-Ramabai Nagar around 4 am.A forest team led by Chandrapur RFO Naigamkar reached the site and removed the carcass after completing formalities.With the latest death, 14 sloth bears have reportedly been killed in train accidents along the Ballarshah-Gondia line.The Habitat Conservation Society said nearly 130 wild animals have died in railway accidents on the corridor, underscoring the risks faced by wildlife using the route to move between habitats across Maharashtra, Telangana and Madhya Pradesh.“After how many more wildlife deaths will mitigation measures be implemented?” asked society president Dinesh Khate, calling for urgent measures to secure the critical wildlife corridor.
