Jammu, Sep 11: The Krishi Branding Centre (KBC), SKUAST-J ABI Foundation, successfully concluded a three-day training programme entitled “Building Agribusiness Value: Transforming Farms into Fortune through Branding & Packaging”, organized from Sep 9-11, 2026 under HADP Project No. 04 – “Strengthening Agricultural Marketing in the Union Territory of J&K.”
The programme was organized under the able guidance of Prof. B. N. Tripathi, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, and the leadership of Prof. Jyoti Kachroo, Director, SKUAST-J ABI Foundation and Principal Investigator, Krishi Branding Centre.
The training programme brought together participants from various RBSHs, Chairmen of various FPOs, FPO members and progressive farmer-entrepreneurs with the objective of strengthening their understanding of branding, packaging, value addition and market-oriented agribusiness development.
The key objectives of the programme included enabling farmers, FPOs and agripreneurs to develop distinct, attractive and market-oriented brand identities; creating awareness regarding Intellectual Property Rights like trademark registration, AGMARK, FSSAI etc.
Prof. Jyoti Kachroo delivered practice-oriented sessions on the role of the Krishi Branding Centre in strengthening agricultural marketing in J&K, with special emphasis on the contribution of SKUAST-J ABI Foundation towards sustainable agri-entrepreneurship and innovation in packaging for agricultural and allied products.
She also apprised the participants about the incubation and mentorship support available through the Agri-Business Incubation Centre, SKUAST-J ABI Foundation.
As part of the experiential learning component, a half-day Industrial Exposure Visit to Jammu & Kashmir Milk Producers Co-operative Ltd. (JKMPCL), Satwari, Jammu, was also organized on the theme:
“From Farm to Brand to Market: Industrial Exposure to Processing, Branding, Packaging, Quality Assurance, Value Addition and Marketing.”
The industrial visit provided participants with valuable first-hand exposure to the dairy value chain, particularly the processes involved in milk procurement, processing, quality assurance, value addition, packaging, branding and marketing.
The programme concluded with a valedictory session and distribution of certificates to the participants.
The Krishi Branding Centre, in collaboration with the Agri-Business Incubation Centre, SKUAST-J ABI Foundation, continues to play a pivotal role in promoting agribusiness development by fostering branding, innovation, entrepreneurship, value addition and market linkages.
Through its continued engagement with departments, FPOs, RBSHs, farmers and grassroots enterprises, KBC is contributing towards creating a stronger and more competitive agricultural marketing ecosystem and transforming Jammu & Kashmir into a vibrant hub of rural entrepreneurship, value-added agriculture and sustainable agribusiness.
