Hyderabad: A family was allegedly chased and threatened by a group of six youths travelling on three motorcycles while returning from a wedding on the Ghatkesar–Boduppal highway in Ghatkesar. Although the incident occurred on June 21, the family lodged a complaint with the Ghatkesar police on Monday evening.According to the police, the complainant, Sai Kumar, was driving from Ghatkesar towards Uppal at around 7 pm with his wife, children, and other relatives, including women and children, when the incident occurred.The accused were allegedly riding recklessly in front of the family’s car, prompting Sai Kumar to sound the horn. “The accused became aggressive after the horn was sounded and asked them to stop the car. When they did, an altercation broke out between the two parties. The accused provoked the complainant to step out of the car, but the occupants became frightened and asked him not to escalate the situation. When they rolled up the windows and drove away, the accused allegedly chased them,” Ghatkesar sub-inspector (SI) A Shekhar told TOI.Police said that the accused also allegedly hurled footwear at the vehicle in an attempt to force it to stop and verbally abused the occupants. The entire incident was captured on the car’s dashcam. The family initially shared the footage on social media before approaching the police.“We have been able to partially identify the registration numbers, but the investigation is still underway. For now, we have registered a case of rash and negligent driving against unidentified persons,” the SI said.
