He was working as an office boy at a company in Shivajinagar.”“We have arrested the minor girl’s family members and their relatives, all of whom do odd jobs, for allegedly kicking and punching the victim to death. The suspects also assaulted him with a stick,” Deshmane said. The victim’s mother Surekha Jadhav (45), who works as a maid in Market Yard, lodged a complaint with the Kothrud police on Saturday night. Nagesh was her only child.“According to the complaint, around 7.15pm, Surekha and her son were at home when he received a call from someone. He then started his motorcycle and left the house,” Deshmane said. “Around 8 pm, Surekha received a call, and a man told her that he and his relatives had beaten up her son and asked her to take him home,” he added.Surekha and her relatives immediately went to the housing society and found Nagesh lying on the ground. They took him to a private hospital on Senapati Bapat Road, where doctors advised them to shift him to Sassoon General Hospital for further treatment. However, doctors at Sassoon declared him dead, stating that he had suffered internal injuries. When asked whether the minor girl’s family had earlier approached police regarding the victim allegedly following her, Deshmane said, “The family did not approach the police on this issue. But this does not mean that the girl’s family members can take the law into their hands.”
