Vadodara: Chhani police have busted a gang involved in the theft of air-conditioners and LED television sets from a city-based godown and arrested three more accused in the case. With the latest arrests, the total number of persons held has risen to six.Police said they have recovered more than 30 air-conditioners and 15 LED television sets stolen from a godown of a retailer in the Chhani area.According to investigators, the theft came to light in May after company officials discovered the missing electronic goods and lodged a complaint at Chhani police station. During the probe, police found that Darshan Vasava, a tempo driver engaged in transporting the products, had allegedly stolen the appliances and sold them at heavily discounted prices.Vasava’s interrogation led police to other members of the racket. Subsequently, police arrested Rakesh Vanzara, Anil Parmar, Rajesh Jhala, Navin Devipujak and Vishal Chaurasiya for their alleged involvement in the crime.Police said all the stolen goods have been recovered. Investigators are now examining whether the accused were involved in similar thefts in the past and whether the racket had operated elsewhere.
