Kolkata: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Taratala warehouse collapse has recovered two mobile phones and several documents during a raid at the Shibpur residence of Kalicharan Banerjee on Sunday. Banerjee served as the officer on special duty (OSD) to former mayor Firhad Hakim.Following the recoveries from the Howrah residence, the SIT directed five individuals, including senior officials from the KMC, to join the ongoing investigation starting Monday. Investigators are sending the two seized mobiles for forensic audit to extract digital leads. The SIT clarified that no former state minister has been summoned for questioning in connection with the case so far.In a parallel development, the police conducted a separate raid at the office of the warehouse owner Sambhunath Behra, now in police custody, in the New Alipore area. An investigating officer confirmed that the raid resulted in the seizure of numerous files. The official stated that statements from additional KMC officials will be recorded to verify the contents of the documents.Meanwhile, structural anomalies have emerged from the collapse site. Two rescue personnel, one from NDRF and another from DMG, informed SIT officials at the spot that the construction pattern of the collapsed building deviated from standard engineering methods. According to a member of the rescue team, building construction typically involves casting roof slabs sequentially from the ground floor upward. However, investigators discovered that the roof slabs for the second and third floors had been cast, while the first-floor slab was missing. The rescue team stated that the construction work appeared to have been executed in reverse order.
