Nagpur: For voters struggling to navigate online electoral rolls or unsure whether their names have made it to the SIR draft, the search is now set to move closer to home.Draft voter lists will be displayed polling station-wise at polling stations and local body offices across Nagpur district, while special enrolment camps will be held in Tanda settlements and Pardhi hamlets, Divisional Commissioner and Electoral Roll Observer Vijayalakshmi Bidari said while reviewing the exercise with political representatives and election officials at the collectorate.She urged citizens to verify their names in the Aug 31 draft roll rather than assume that their earlier registration continues automatically. The directions assume significance as 14.43 lakh of Nagpur district’s 46.38 lakh pre-SIR voters have not figured in the draft roll under the ‘Uncollectable EF’ category. Signed enumeration forms were received from 31.95 lakh voters, or 68.88%, whose names were included in the draft.Among the 14.43 lakh cases, 5.45 lakh were classified as absent or untraceable during BLO visits, 5.29 lakh as permanently shifted, 2.40 lakh as deceased and 1.18 lakh as registered elsewhere or duplicate entries. Another 9,484 fell under other reasons.Citizens whose names are missing can apply for enrolment through Form 6, either online or offline. Form 8 can be used to seek corrections in names or addresses, while Form 7 can be submitted for deletion of a name from the electoral roll, the administration said. During the meeting, Bidari also directed that copies of the Aug 31 draft roll be immediately provided to political parties that had not yet received them.MLAs Sanjay Meshram, Nitin Raut and Krishna Khopde, along with representatives of recognised political parties, attended the meeting. District collector and district election officer Kumar Ashirwad, deputy district election officer Rachana Indurkar and other senior officials were also present.With claims and objections currently under way, Bidari stressed that the priority should be ensuring every eligible citizen finds a place in the electoral roll, urging voters to check their entries and seek inclusion or correction wherever required.
