Mysuru: Around 20,000 voters in the district have managed to get their names cleared from the ASDDO (absent, shifted, dead, duplicate and otherwise unavailable) list in the past week, making use of the extended deadline for special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.The number of voters in the ASDDO category dropped from about 5.7 lakh on Aug 2 to 5.6 lakh as of Aug 10, indicating a significant response from voters following the Election Commission’s second extension of the verification deadline. The last date for SIR verification is Aug 17.The nine-day extension, following an initial eight-day extension, has given voters additional time to substantiate their identity details, correct discrepancies and complete the verification process required for inclusion in the upcoming draft electoral rolls.A booth-level officer (BLO) said the ASDDO list was now almost final, though some voters were still collecting their enumeration forms during the grace period.According to the BLO, several voters came forward and submitted their enumeration forms after obtaining details of their parents from the 2002 electoral roll.“As BLOs, we have tried contacting those who have moved from their addresses. In some cases, the voters concerned responded positively, while in some instances, their neighbours came forward to help. Some approached BLOs after seeing their names on the ASDDO list on ceo.karnataka.gov.in and wanted to get their names cleared,” he said.In another case, a BLO helped a voter identify the booth where he had voted in 2002 and directed him to collect the required enumeration forms from the respective BLO. The voter subsequently contacted the BLO at his current address using the information sticker attached to his door.Not a single SIR complaint: DCDeputy commissioner Lakshmikanth Reddy said that there hasn’t been a single complaint regarding SIR process in Mysuru either by voters or political parties. “Due to joint efforts by both BLOs and political party agents, few voters were identified, and the enumeration process was completed. The district administration had shared ASDDO details with political parties, and it helped in identifying voters who had moved from registered address,” he said.
