Germany-based medtech firm Siemens Healthineers is looking to collaborate with the Karnataka government to support upcoming centres of excellence in lifesciences, healthtech and medical products, IT/BT minister Priyank Kharge said on Thursday.
Kharge met the leadership team of Siemens Healthineers in Bengaluru to discuss opportunities around skilling, joint incubation and partnerships aligned with the state’s deeptech push, he wrote on X.
“We discussed opportunities to collaborate on skilling, joint incubation and our upcoming centres of excellence in lifesciences, healthtech and medical products,” the minister said in the post. “We also explored how they can engage more closely with Karnataka’s startup ecosystem under our Deeptech Decade initiatives.”
He added that it is encouraging to see global companies deepen their presence in the state, backed by the state’s strong talent base and innovation ecosystem.
Siemens Healthineers, which counts Bengaluru among its four global innovation hubs, operates a global capability centre (GCC) in the city focused on areas such as data analytics, artificial intelligence and immersive technologies.
The collaboration comes amid the company actively partners with deeptech startups in India, particularly in the healthcare sector.
During the meeting, the company shared updates on its upcoming Bengaluru campus, which will integrate research and development, manufacturing and training functions, Kharge said.
The city already hosts a significant share of Siemens Healthineers’ global R&D and engineering talent, reinforcing its role as a key hub for the company, he added.
