Patna: Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) on Monday arrested Akhilesh Singh, a sub-inspector (SI) posted at Patepur police station in Vaishali district, for allegedly accepting a Rs15,000 bribe. He was caught red-handed while taking the money to write a case diary and settle a case.According to the VIB, the bureau received a written complaint from one Chandan Kumar, who alleged that Singh had demanded the bribe in connection with a case recently registered at the police station. Acting on the complaint, a 10-member team led by DSP Satyendra Ram was constituted to lay a trap, as Singh was the investigating officer of the case.The vigilance team apprehended the SI on the spot soon after he accepted the bribe from the complainant. Following the arrest, necessary legal formalities were completed at Patepur police station, after which Singh was taken to Patna. He will be produced before the special vigilance court for further legal action.
